Global Health Concentration Competencies for MPH

Fellow Global Health Educators,

ASPPH’s Global Health Concentration Competencies for the Master of Public Health (MPH) Degree are now ready for all Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH)-accredited schools and programs that are preparing MPH-trained students for the global health workforce.

These new concentration competencies offer examples, vetted in a national and global, evidence-based, and participatory process, that schools and programs could consider, for voluntary use, to fulfill CEPH requirements for “at least five distinct competencies for each concentration.”

Stay tuned for a toolkit and ASPPH Presents webinar in the fall (date TBD) to assist faculty in implementing the competencies. We will be eager to highlight users’ experiences in adopting or adapting the competencies in the webinar, so please post your reactions or email them to eweist@aspph.org.

While the 2016 CEPH core competency requirements for MPH degrees rendered ASPPH’s 2011 global health competency model obsolete, it is still available, here, for reference.

Best wishes in advancing education for global health—Liz Weist
