The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) is inviting healthcare facilities to participate in a webinar series conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) regarding the concerning increase in Candida auris cases and other multi drug-resistant organisms (MDROs) in Massachusetts. The webinar recordings will be available here afterwards.

You are being invited to participate because:

  • Your facility serves a high-risk population and is located in an area where C. auris has been identified
  • Your facility frequently transfers to/from a facility that has identified C. auris cases
  • You are a facility identified by your jurisdiction as likely to care for C. auris patients/residents in the future

  • Quality Improvement/Patient Safety Staff

Presenters

Dr. Elizabeth Soda

is an infectious diseases physician who started her career in public health as a hospital epidemiologist before joining the CDC. Since joining the CDC, she worked with the Illinois Department of Public Health to help with their response to multidrug-resistant organisms before moving to the Antimicrobial Resistance Team with CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion in Atlanta.

Kaitlin Forsberg

is an epidemiologist at the CDC Mycotic Diseases Branch. Her work focuses on drug resistance in Candida, including the national response to Candida auris, WHO’s Global Antimicrobial Resistance Surveillance System (GLASS), and the AR Lab Network.

Dr. Heather Jones

is a doctoral-prepared nurse practitioner with a clinical background in long-term care, acute care, and chronic care management. She is a nurse consultant with the long-term care team within CDC’s Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion with a strong focus on infection prevention and control.
