Why has the media recently described suicide as a public health crisis despite its rarity on the population level? Dr. Jaimie Gradus, Associate Professor of Epidemiology at BUSPH, shares three key points on understanding this epidemic and what researchers are doing to help prevent future deaths.

Meet the Instructor

Jaimie L. Gradus, DSc, MPH

is Associate Professor of Epidemiology and Psychiatry at Boston University School of Public Health and School of Medicine. Dr. Gradus's research interests are in the epidemiology of trauma and trauma-related disorders, with a particular focus on suicide outcomes. Dr. Gradus has been the recipient of multiple National Institute of Mental Health and foundation grants to conduct epidemiologic research in both veterans and the general population.
