This short webinar introduces viewers to the fundamentals of “Community Health Needs Assessment,” a process by which public health practitioners partner with community members to assess relevant assets and barriers to community well-being and establish health improvement priorities. We talk about the planning process, identify key sources of demographic and health data, and discuss the elements of a Community Health Improvement Plan – a blueprint for action.

Instructor

Candice Belanoff, ScD, MPH

is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Community Health Sciences at BUSPH and a Maternal and Child Health Epidemiologist with a particular interest in the relationship of social forces and inequities to patterns of population health. She is currently investigating associations between measures of structural racism and the occurrence of preterm birth and other adverse perinatal outcomes. Recent research has also addressed health outcomes related to cesarean delivery; substance use among women of reproductive age; and assisted reproductive technology.
