Course Description

This course introduces students to statistical computing with focus on the SAS package. Emphasis is on manipulating data sets and basic statistical procedures such as t-tests, chi-square tests, and correlation. Conditions underlying the appropriate use of these statistical procedures are reviewed. Students use equipment and software available through the Boston University Medical Center.

Competencies

Participants will learn to:

  • read in and modify datasets (Excel, text, and SAS databases) with SAS;
  • use SAS functions;
  • generate descriptive statistics and graphical displays using SAS;
  • perform hypothesis tests using SAS.

Introductory statistics/biostatistics

Anyone with an interest in developing programming skills
